This painting is titled Sculptor and Quarry. It's 5 feet across by 4 feet high, and painted in oils on linen.
It's done in a looser style than the others, and in a limited pallete of umbers and ultramarine. More of the underpainting comes through, as does the looser brushwork.
In it, a naked, spotted sculptor has come to a flooded quarry with his hammer and chisel. He's illuminated in a wash of light that fades off into the background. Behind him, a monumental head rests on a flatbed truck. |
